LeChaim America is a project of Reut USA that inspires and supports American Jewry to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. These celebrations will be an expression of gratitude to the U.S. for being a home to one of the greatest Jewish communities in history and a long-standing ally of the State of Israel. LeChaim American includes three efforts:

-
Celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary) in a distinctly Jewish way that is connected to Israel.
-
Todah America: A special communal “gift” from American Jewry to the American people.
About the Semiquincentennial
Every fifty years, the United States holds grand celebrations. Such celebrations were held in 1826 (“the Jubilee”), 1876 (“the Centennial”), 1926 (“the Sesquicentennial”), and 1976 (“the Bicentennial”). In 2026, the U.S. will celebrate its 250th anniversary, also known as the Semiquincentennial. While the highlight of the Semiquincentennial will be on July 4, 2026, thousands of events will take place over two years from June 2025 until July 4, 2027, in every state, city, and community. About Todah America
In every Jubilee celebration, the U.S. receives gifts and tributes from foreign governments and civic organizations. For example, in the Bicentennial in 1976, the U.S. received some 176 gifts and tributes from ~40 nations, including 12 from the U.K. and 4 from Israel. Our favorite gift by a civic organization was 1,000,000 bulbs of tulips from the Association of Flower Growers in the Netherlands, which were planted in cities across America.

Against this backdrop, Todah America will be a communal people-to-people gift to the American people, which will come from Israel and be delivered by local Jewish communities expressing gratitude for the exceptional history of American Jewry in the U.S. and for the strategic alliance between the U.S. and Israel.
